Commemorating world TB day, the much needed Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT) machine was installed at district Tuberculosis Centre Mokokchung on March 24.
With the installation of CBNAAT at district TB centre, sending sputum samples to other states for Multi Drug Resistant Test would now be possible, stated DIPR report.
CBNAAT machine was formally inaugurated by minister for National Highway, Mechanical and Election Nuklutoshi. Addressing the function, Nuklutoshi expressed hope the CBNAAT machine would immensely help in combating TB not only in Mokokchung district but those nearby districts. He urged upon doctors and nurses to be more committed in the fight against the dreaded disease. Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung Dr S. S. Aka in his welcome speech highlighted the achievements made by Mokokchung TB Centre in the fight against TB. He expressed hope that the achievement rate on TB would improve with the installation of CBNAAT machine.
World TB Day observed in Zunheboto
Along with the rest of the world, Zunheboto observed World TB Day, under the Theme “unite to end TB”, at DTC, Zunheboto, March 24.
The programme was organized by RNTCP Zunheboto in collaboration with Project Axshya (EHA).
Resource person and medical officer ART Centre Zunheboto, Dr. Mughalu emphasized on the co-relation between HIV and TB. Another resource person and DOTS Plus TB/HIV supervisor, Akavi N spoke on significance of the day.
Keynote address was delivered by district TB officer, Zunheboto Dr.Khehokhu Chishi.
Earlier, the programme chaired by TO DTC Zunheboto, Renthungo Ezung began with an invocation prayer by (SN) DTC, Zunheboto, Toshili. Teacher’s representative (GPS, GMS) from respective colonies, NGOs, ART staff, DAPCU staff attended the programme.
