Kahuvi Sumi and secretary Isac Sumi claimed that ‘based on reliable sources’, Seyochung Village Council allegedly demolished a house on March 3, 2016 belonging to one Hutokhu Sumi, of the Sumi community Seyochung village without his knowledge/district administration.
ESH claimed that the FIR filed by the owner on March 7 at the police station was not registered. A complaint letter was also submitted to the DC, Kiphire for immediate intervention, it added. ESH said that the incident has created unwanted situation jeopardizing public order.
It lamented that despite several complaint letters to the district administration, no action was initiated.
It further claimed that a similar incident took place in April 2013, where some individuals demolished a house belonging to Atohe Sumi and erected a residence for women pastor. It said a complaint letter was written to DC on May 2, 2013 but the district administration failed to intervene, it added.
In this regard, the ESH has put forth four-point charter of demands: immediate arrest of persons involved, to let the council re-construct the house, to compensate the owner and to dismantle the house erected for the women pastor.
