Medical officers under Mokokchung district were given training in relation to the new district mental health programme (DMHP) on March 22 at conference hall IDSP Mokokchung.
CMO Dr.S.S.Akaba exhorted and encouraged the participants to be attentive throughout the programme as it was a new programme. State programme officer on mental health DHFW Kohima, Dr. Leamnyei highlighted about the programme and sought co operation and support from the participants for successful implementation of the programme.
Nodal officer (DMHP) Dr. A.Temsuyanger gave a detailed appraisal of the DMHP and highlighted about the roles and responsibilities of the medical officers in their respective health centres in relation to the programme. He informed the participants that enough medicines, psychological tools and boyles apparatus with electro convulsive therapy machine has been supplied from DHFW Kohima.
As a resource person he also gave a presentation on different kinds of mood disorders and their management. Resource person from Mental Health Institute Kohima, Dr. Along presented on different kinds of psychotic disorders and their management. He also gave a presentation on anxiety disorders, which was one of the commonest mental disorders and was part and parcel of any medical conditions.
