State level National Integration Camp (NIC) was successfully conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sagathan (NYKS) Kohima at IG stadium from March 17 to 21 at Kohima, with 250 youth participants from Uttarkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Maharashtra, UP, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur and Nagaland.
The camp was conducted based on various activities which included power point presentations by the participating states, cultural programme, yoga and daily prayer, voice of the young people, communal harmony rally, symposium, field visit, know India quiz and learning culture through language.
The inaugural programme was held on March 17 with president Angami Public Organization (APO), Dr. Vilhusa Seleyi as the chief guest. He exhorted the young participants to be dedicated, committed and honest in bringing about national integration. He apprised the youth that “our” country needed conscientious and energetic young people with constructive and positive minds in the process of nation building. He encouraged the participants for peaceful co-existence despites cultural differences. He also advised the young people to have faith in God the creator of human beings. The key note address was presented by NYKS, Kohima director, Jackie Ruivah. She also highlighted about NYKS and the purpose of the national integration camp. During the inaugural function the states of Sikhim and Nagaland presented colourful cultural programmes.
Parliamentary secretary Youth Resources & Sports and chairman MTF, Khriehu Liezietsu was the chief guest during the closing function.
The participating teams of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Maharashtra presented their colourful cultural programmes mesmerizing the audience. In know India quiz the first prize went to Nagaland, second prizes were awarded to Manipur, Sikhim, and Uttarakhand and the third prize went to Maharashtra. State level best youth club was awarded to Altura Society, Dimapur with Rs. 1 lakh and citation. The best disciplined team for NIC was awarded to Sikkim. Jackie Ruivah gave the camp report stating that NIC was unique in its own ways in bringing the nation together. She highlighted the various programme taken up during the 5-day programme.
The programme was chaired Roukhuovikho Chale, while DYC John Makhabo welcomed the audience and vote of thank was delivered by DYC, Phyobemo Lotha, where he thanked chief guests of inaugural and closing functions, deptt. of Youth Resources, all resource persons, 19 AR, Kohima, NSS officials, administrator, IG stadium and all persons who had helped to make the NIC a grand success.
