Taking serious note on the reported failure and scams in the Education department, Nagaland Governor, P.B. Acharya Sunday asked chief minister and education minister to initiate thorough probe by taking corrective measures immediately on the reported scams. “The governor has written to the CM and education minister on this matter”, said governor’s OSD in a press note.
According to the statement, Acharya has also clearly stated that the government will not tolerate any scam and corruption, and would initiate stringent action as per the provisions of the law against the culprits irrespective of their position and rank. While expressing shock on the news item, “mid-day meal scheme starved by ‘pilferage?”, the governor has called for urgent and proper enquiry and action.
Meanwhile, the governor has taken note of the various reported scams in education department which include- Hindi teachers salary, appointment of teachers in Peren district and their absence, contractors locking school building due to non-payment of pending bills, proxy teachers in the remote village schools and misuse of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’s (SSA) funds and schemes.
