Indian Dental Association Nagaland State Branch (IDANSB) organized dental awareness programme in schools, churches and hospitals under the theme, “it all starts here, healthy mouth, healthy body” on “World Oral Health Day” (WOHD) which was celebrated on March 20.
A press release by IDANSB honorary state secretary, Dr. Y. Nzanthung Humtsoe stated that Dimapur unit celebrated the day by paying a visit to Ebenezer Orphanage Home to spread oral health awareness to the less privileged children. Seven Dental Surgeons including Dr. Y.Nzanthung Humtsoe, Dr. seto Kera, Dr. Wilson Humtsoe, Dr. Limanaro, Dr. Lothungbeni Patton, Dr. Meyisenla Angh, Dr. Naomi Rio Zhimomi visited the children.
Director of the Ebenezer Orphanage Home, Akum Amri welcomed the team to the home where children were educated on the importance of good oral hygiene with emphasis on proper brushing technique and tongue cleaning. The children were also advised to limit amount of sugary and sour food intake, reduce snacks between meals and encouraged to rinse their mouth with water after every meal and to brush twice daily. A dental kit comprising of toothbrush, a mouthwash a literature on proper brushing and some toothpaste was distributed to all the children. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Y. Nzanthung Humtsoe.
Kohima IDA members celebrated WOHD at Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home where senior dental surgeon NHAK, Dr. Aveile Solo gave the exhortation and encouraged the children to maintain the oral hygiene and IDANSB president, Dr. Koza gave a power point presentation on the topic, “healthy mouth healthy body”. Oral check up and oral hygiene kit was also distributed.
