IGNOU study centre was inaugurated at Mount Tiyi College (MTC) at Wokha by deputy commissioner Wokha, Robin Lotha on March 18.
Chief guest in his inaugural speech emphasised on the need of such educational facilities in order to reach out to the less privileged people. He reiterated the benefits that the people of Wokha District would get as a result of the IGNOU study centre.
Regional director IGNOU Kohima, Dr. T. Iralu gave a brief profile presentation of IGNOU and emphasized on the programmes available and convenient system of acquiring a degree under IGNOU.
Other speakers included ADC Wokha, Thavaseelan K (IAS) and Lotha Hoho chairman Mhao Lotha.
Earlier in the programme chaired by coordinator of study centre, assistant professor and HoD English, Khyopenthung Tsopoe, the principal Dr. Apeni Lotha gave the welcome address.
Invocation prayer was pronounced by pastor WTBC, Rev. Sulumo Ezung and words of gratitude was extended by assistant professor, Imwapangla Imsong.
The programme was attended by pastors of the neighbouring villages of Longsa, Wokha Village, Niroyo and Longsachung, representatives from Lotha Eloe Hoho and heads of various educational institutions in and around Wokha town.
