Gariphema marks 11th anniv as first tobacco-free village

Gariphema Village, recognized as India’s first tobacco-free village, celebrated the 11th anniversary of its World No Tobacco Day observance on May 31, with renewed commitment to a tobacco-free future.
The event focused on educating the community—especially the youth—about the harmful effects of tobacco and encouraging the adoption of healthier lifestyles. A pledge-taking ceremony was held, with active participation from students and council members, reaffirming their dedication to maintaining a tobacco-free society.
Through this observance, the village union and council aimed to empower individuals with knowledge and inspire lasting behavioral change in support of public health and community well-being.
