Govt takes serious note of MDM rice issue, says FP Solo

School Education and SCERT, secretary FP Solo on Friday said that state government has taken “serious note” of the alleged distribution of old and worm-infested rice meant for distribution to different government schools in Mokokchung town under the Mid Day Meal (MDM) scheme.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, Solo said that Food Corporation of India (FCI) had agreed “in principle” to replace the rice, since the food grains were procured from the FCI for distribution to government schools. He however said that the School education department, FCI officials and the transporters would be meeting to ascertain the issue on March 14, Solo informed.
Meanwhile, as per reports, the issue has also been highlighted to the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
