Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) has claimed that it has held one GPRN/NSCN member identified as ‘major’ Naro Mero of and one Kuveyi Vero of Phek Town for “supplying and peddling” restricted drugs at Phek Town.
In a press release PTYS convenor crime branch Khosheta Rhakho claimed that Naro Mero has been supplying the drugs in huge quantities before being caught. It claimed that when enquiry was carried out by the youth society, it has come to light that the consignments were bought from Town pharmacy and two other pharmacies at Pfutsero Town. PTYS also alleged that the pharmacies “run a big business of restricted drugs in the district”. And in this connection, PTYS requested the citizens, NGOs, churches of Pfutsero town to keep vigil as this activity has being deteriorating the upcoming generations. Further, PTYS has cautioned that nobody should take advantage of being a national worker to carry out the anti -social activities adding that it would “invite actions deemed fit”. It then said that any person of any NPGs would not be allowed to “ruin the society and cannot be allowed to represent the mandate of the people” and has asked the NPGs to desist the “degraded people to work for the nation”. The youth society also cautioned that any NPGs enrolling “demoralized people” like Naro Mero would invite non- cooperation from the PTYS and the general public. The society has also requested GPRN/NSCN to immediately discard Naro Mero from all activities and functions of the government.
