Eastern Naga College Students’ Union (ENCSU) while drawing attention to the government’s apathy in regard to the system of education in Nagaland has also extended its solidarity to the demands made by All Nagaland College Student’s Union (ANCSU) to the government.
A press release by ENCSU chairman, Longre Chang and joint secretary, Nokchem Angth claimed that “many high ranking officers in government wants to play with the students’ life” and cautioned that ENCSU would not tolerate such actions of “some vested people with selfish interest”.
While stating that education should be the main priority of the government, ENCSU warned that it should not be politicized and that government must not protect the guilty at the expense of innocent students.
ENCSU pointed out that while people were fighting for a single seat in technical and medical field, the government of Nagaland was unable to solve and address such an important matter. ENCSU further questioned the motive of the government and the department concerned in regard to the issue.
Knowing the fact that the demand made by ANCSU was genuine, ENCSU stated that it was the right time for the government to ponder upon and work for the welfare of the students.
ENCSU at a same time has asked all the colleges within its jurisdiction to follow its directives as a parent body of college students and not any other organizations.
It further requested other organizations not to interfere in any activities of the ENCSU without having prior communication with the concerned.
