Tiger on the prowl shot dead; 1 injured

A tiger on Monday was reportedly killed by villagers after it entered the village on February 26 night. One person was reportedly attacked on Monday morning by the tiger and the people, in self defence had to shoot the tiger. According district administration, the tiger seriously wounded a man and killed two pigs and a cow after it entered the village on Friday night.
The dead tiger, supposedly Bengal tiger, was handed over to Wildlife Warden Dimapur Division for disposal, ADC Medziphema said. They will dispose the tiger after necessary formalities and post-mortem in the presence of a magistrate. 
ADC said that the Wildlife department officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. No officials of the Forest department could be contacted to get their views on the incident.
