Christ King Church Kohima organized a day of pilgrimage to St. Xavier Church Jalukie on February 27 to mark the Jubilee Year of Mercy. Fr. Peter Salew SDB, the parish priest, leaders of the Catholic union, Bethany sisters, Catechists, members from fathers’ association, mothers’ association, Sunday school teachers, C.Y.A, C.J.A, altar servers, legion of Mary, Jesus youth, and a good number of the faithful numbering around 230 participated in the pilgrimage. The main objective of the pilgrimage was the spiritual renewal in the Jubilee Year of Mercy and to spend the season of Lent in prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
The spiritual renewal programme began with an introductory talk by Rev. Fr. Peter Salew SDB who emphasized on the need for spiritual renewal, the opportune time to receive God’s blessings and merciful love through sincere examination of conscience, repentance, conversion and transformation of life. He reiterated that the sacraments of reconciliation and the Eucharist are the two pillars of the process of spiritual renewal, and starting afresh from Christ.
The pilgrimage reached its culmination in the solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Peter Salew SDB and con-celebrated by Fr. Athony Samy (parish priest of St. Xavier Parish) and Fr. Augustine Kerketta (rector of St. Xavier seminary).
