In view of the prevailing law and order situation, the Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and first class magistrate, Kiphire has promulgated Section 144 CrPC within Kiphire town with effect from Sunday (February 28) till further order.
In a press release, ADC, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang said the order which restricted movement of three or more persons would be effective between 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
According to ADC, there has been credible inputs of some “anti -social elements” moving within and around Kiphire town jurisdiction during night time, with the intention to commit arson and looting of properties belonging to certain community that were damaged by mob in the aftermath of the killing of two persons near Yayi bridge on February 6.
Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, therefore said, that the CrPC has been clamped to restrain such elements which may result in loss of innocent lives and further aggravate the “tense situation prevailing between the affected communities”.
In this regard, the ADC further warned that any individual/groups found violating the order would be arrested and necessary action initiated as per the provision of the law.
