
Parliamentary secretary for Tourism C Apok Jamir has termed the joining of eight Congress MLAs with NPF led DAN government as a “symbolic political unity” for government of India to bear witness that the Nagas want a lasting solution to Naga political issue.
Speaking at the first coordination meeting of 27th Mokokchung Town A/C NPF at the party treasurer’s residence on February 27, Apok admitted that the decision to join DAN government was a “mammoth decision”. He then added “the coalition is a providential intervention of God”.
Speaking on Naga political issue, the parliamentary said signing of “Naga Peace Accord” on August 3, 2015 between government of India and NSCN (I-M) was a “big step” towards a lasting solution.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by NPF Nagaland farmers’ wing president Lanukaba, NPF Nagaland working president, central youth wing, Bendangtoshi, NPF Mokokchung division president Moasangba Jamir and NPF Mokokchung division women wing president Anenla Pongen.
The function was chaired by the 27 A/C NPF office bearers, Invocation was said by UCF I/C L Meren Longkumer and welcome note was delivered by 27th Mokokchung Town A/C NPF president Sanglipong.
