Wildlife crime control Dmu dispose seized wildlife items

Wildlife Crime Control (WCC) unit, Dimapur has disposed confiscated wildlife items that were seized along NH29 on February 26.
The seized wildlife item, one leopard cat, one civet cat, two drongo, one parrot and three other birds, were disposed of by burning and burying at the office complex in the presence of officials and staffs of the department.
Meanwhile, Wildlife Crime Control unit, Dimapur has urged the public to abstain from hunting and trading of wildlife animals and birds as such offence can invite fine or imprisonment or both as per Wildlife (protection) Act, 1972.  The unit has urged the village council chairmen and GBs to control the trade of wildlife items in their respective jurisdiction and reminded that those villagers indulging in wildlife crimes, the various grants and assistance to them by the state government through various schemes would be curtailed.
Wildlife Crime Control unit, Dimapur also requested the customers and purchasers “mostly rich and educated people” not to encourage such activities by purchasing any wild animals, reminding that such acts would be treated as “equal partners” in wildlife crimes.
