Pochury Catholic Youth Convention (PCYC) observed its 12th convention at St. Peter’s church at old Thewati village from January 8 to 11, with the theme, “Mercy”.
The main celebrants were youth director and chancellor, diocese of Kohima, Rev. Fr.Sojan Xavier and assistant priest St. Thomas Parish Tuensang, Rev. Fr. Selosie Dominic Joshou. Speakers for the sessions included- secretary education, diocese of Kohima, Rev.Fr. George Rino and former president NCYM, Tiesovi Gerard Meyase.
Programme was also graced by international friends from Myanmar, John and Paul both from Kamti and Homalin, Justin, Jesus youth full timer, Victoria, Jesus Youth Co-ordinator, Limasungla NCYM representative to NERYC and Anna Belho Meyase.
Around 170 youth delegates attended the convention.
As part of the youth convention, trekking to Mt. Nazafii was conducted and Holy Mass celebrated. The objective was to experience and understand the Catholic social teaching on environment and enjoy the wonderful creation of God.
The session included the theme topic shared by Rev Fr. George Rino and questionnaire/apologetic session was led by Rev.Fr. Sojan Xavier and Tiesovi Gerard Meyase.
The convention concluded with the election of the new office bearers for the tenure 2016-19. The next youth convention 2019 would be held at Queen Mary’s Church as accepted by the general body.
