Jakhama village held its 26th Jakhama village day at Campion School ground Jakhama on January 16, with its motto “Truth & Victory” in a very grand and colourful manner.
A press release by Jakhama village council (KVC) chairman, Medose Richa and secretary, Kevikhuzo Khatso stated that the speaker on the topic, “Uramia la a pushükenyü-u” (on what I would like to share with my villagers) was advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, who is also president NVCO and ACAUT.
Savi in his address said that Jakhama village was a blessed village, having the NH-29 crossing its entire village, rich natural resources and the largest St. Joseph’s college within its ambit, stated the release. KVC also stated that Savi expressed genuine happiness at the village’s initiative towards organic farming, working towards making a cleaner village, protecting the environment and sanitation by even having sanitation committee consisted of gazette officers, continually banned the sale of liquor within the village jurisdiction.
He has also distributed a booklet of NVCO containing the judgement of Gauhati High Court & Government standing orders banning collection of cash on any highways and check-gates and questioned “We want victory but at the same time, are we really stand by the ‘Truth’ as our village motto?” stated the release.
Savi quoted Proverb 14:34, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people”, while he challenged the Jakhama Students’ Union to believe in themselves as they would soon be celebrating its golden jubilee, it stated.
KVC also stated that Savi advised the students that there is no short cut to success but success goes to hard working young people and in today’s society leaders who are honest, truthful, and of integrity are in demand in order to build a better society to live in, along with development and a corrupt-free system.
The programme was chaired by Kevikhuzo Khatso, invocation by pastor John Zao, welcome greeting by the village council chairman Medose Richa and exhortation was given by GB Thinuzeho Kirha. A special number was presented by the CRC Jakhama Choir.
