Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) during its general session cum tournament held at Tuli from January 12 to 15 has passed some resolutions for overall welfare of the people of Tuli.
LKM resolved to take an initiative to establish a Skill Development Center and also to construct a multipurpose complex in Tuli with the support of Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, government of India. The LKM shall also form a Trust and register it accordingly to serve the needs of the people through different channels.
Taking serious note of the present haphazard, unscientific and mindless way of coal mining in Langpangkong area in particular and Nagaland as a whole which threatens the ecological balance and also endanger lives and geographical foundations of villages, the LKM has decided to organize a seminar on “Present Coal mining and its consequences” with experts at the earliest.
Taking into account for better farming purposes and to encourage agriculture the LKM has also resolved to organize a farmers consultative meet with agri-allied departments.
The LKM shall initiate a “Talk” on concept of “Special Development Zone” in Nagaland mooted by Nagaland government as an endeavor to put the concept in proper perspective without jeopardizing the rights of the people and translate the concept into reality for the benefit of Nagaland.
LKM shall also seek the reasons of inability to revive the Tuli paper mill (NPPC) from the Hindustan Paper Corporation Ltd. despite availability of fund from the Govt of India and if HPC found to be not interested in reviving the mill, the LKM shall reclaim the land meant for NPPC Ltd for alternative developmental project for the benefit of the people. LKM shall give its best effort in educating people to ensure fair and free election.
The LKM shall constitute a “Research and Evaluation Committee” to assess the academicand physical performance and status of both the government and private schools and suggest remedial measures to improve the dismal academic situation in both the private and Govt schools particularly in Langpangkong area. The LKM shall also constitute a fund raising cum construction committee for construction of LKM commercial building in its plot of land at Changtongya town in 2016.
LKM resolved to organize annual Youth & Sports Festival in Tuli in collaboration with public and private agencies, and would also set up a Langpangkong football team as well as volleyball team to broaden the participation scope of players in national and international events.
With the sponsorship of Geoffrey Yaden and family, LKM will institute “L.L. Yaden meritorious scholarship” for topper amongst the successful candidates of HSLC examination from government high schools amongst its members from 2016. Late L. L. Yaden was the first president of LKM. The LKM shall form a “Think Tank” to guide and assist the LKM.
LKM also resolved to institute a prize money of Rs. 1.00 lakh for football winning team and Rs.50,000/- for runner-up and another prize money of Rs.50,000/- for volleyball winning team and Rs.25,000/- for runner-up along with the current trophies.
