Five-day long Suruhuto Range Student’s Union (SRSU) 56th general conference got underway at Kioboto Baptist Church, Kholeboto village on January 12.
On the second day (January 13), evening session was graced by senior journalist, KV Nurumi as guest speaker. While dwelling on the theme, “Competitive Era”, KV Nurumi maintained that, “the different levels of competition in various walks of life can be traced since time immemorial till date” citing various examples and experiences.
He also highlighted on the current politics and political developments both over ground and underground. He urged the youths to stay away from intoxications, especially drugs.
“Suruhuto Range Students Union (SRSU), has produced various tall leaders in different aspects”, said Nurumi and challenged the students to follow the footsteps of those leaders.
He also sponsored cash prizes of all the sports, literary and cultural competitions.
Former president SKK, Holuvi Chophy in his keynote address claimed that the disunity, division and lack of cooperation amongst the Sümi community, has created a huge vacuum hampering developments, progress and standards of the contemporary Sümi society.
Earlier, the programme began with pastor Kiyetha BC Mughaho Chisho invoking God’s blessing followed by a special number by Suruhuto Range Student’s Union unit Zunheboto and Vedami Students Union.
More than thousand students’ delegates from 15 units, well wishers, neighbouring town and villages are taking part in the general conference.
