CRPO calls 12-hour total bandh on Jan 21

Chizami Range Public Organization (CRPO) has called a 12-hour total bandh (1st phase), starting 6 am on January 21 within its jurisdiction, to express resentment over the incessant breaking down of IMVA-33/11 KV power transformer and non-replacement by new transformer.
Informing this in a press note, chairmen of five village councils-Thetsümi, Enhulumi, Chizami, Mesulumi and Sumi, representatives of CRPO and Chizami town, said the decision on imposing the first phase of agitation would be considered if the department restore power supply before January 20.
Medical and para-military have been exempted from the purview of the bandh.
The signatories stated that this would be followed by second phase of agitation depending on whether the department would execute to their demand. They claimed that power transformer at Pfutsero had not been “restored or replaced” till date, after it broke down on January 3. Since, then the range had been deprived of electricity for more than three months, and despite appeal for replacement with new transformer, the department did not “reciprocated showing its lack of concern for the range”.
The signatories also stated that continuous break down led to total failure of electricity where banking, communication, office works and other activities halted and students preparing for the coming examination were affected.
CRPO during a consultative meeting on January 7 has resolved that the sub-station transformer at Pfutsero be shifted and installed at Chizami sub-division at the earliest. Therefore, the signatories requested general public to bear with the inconvenience and extend co-operation during the bandh period.
