Dimapur’s Swapneel Paul, currently IRS assistant commissioner, has brought laurels to Nagaland and Dimapur in particular after he ranked 64th in the recently declared UPSC civil services (mains) exam 2017.
Son of PB Paul, an advocate of the Gauhati High Court Kohima bench, Swapneel is an alumnus of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School Dimapur. He was also the 6th rank holder of 2006 HSLC exam.
Later, Swapneel pursued his carrier to become an engineer from National Institute of Technology, Silchar.
In his first attempt for the UPSC, Swapneel cracked the exam and was appointed as an Indian Postal Service officer in 2016. He once again attempted for the civil services exam and went on to become an Indian Revenue Service officer in 2017.
With his never give up attitude, Swapneel once again attempted to fulfil his dream to crack the UPSC exam and finally achieved his goal to become an IAS officer, ranking 64th out of 990 candidates who cleared the civil service (mains) 2017 exam.
Talking to Nagaland Post, PB Paul said his son had always been hardworking and wanted to become an administrative officer. “Though we wanted him to become a doctor, he became an engineer (electrical) and now he has finally achieved his goal,” Swapneel’s father said.
Paul said God has been so kind that his son could fulfil his dream. Even though parents want their children to become something, God always has a purpose and time for them, he added.
Expressing great joy on the success, the family thanked God for his guidance and blessing.
