
Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU)’s 66th biennial literary cum cultural day was held under the theme “identity” at Panchayat hall, Kigwema here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion as the speaker, the commissioner and secretary youth resources and sports (YR&S) and team leader NEPED (energy) Menukhol John said “our” identity and roots should be kept alive while reminding that “our” identity began from the kitchen, home and quality that one possessed.
The speaker encouraged the gathering to pass down the identity of good value and experiences to the upcoming generation also.
Further, John reminded the student community that dress alone did not display one’s identity, but the inner quality. He advised the younger generations to inculcate the good quality of “our” forefathers like honesty, dignity of labour and hard work.
He urged the students to utilize unique gift, which everyone possessed, for good purpose.
SASU president Teisovi Thorie, in his presidential address, said the event was organized to create a platform for the people to exchange their views, opinion and understand one another better.
He said the programme of literature and collateral art followed the right path in developing oneself to meet and face the challenges ahead.
The programme was chaired by SASU social and cultural secretary Surhozelhou Khamo, invocation prayer was said by KBC pastor Zhavi Kere, special songs were presented by Phesama Students’ union and Kigwema students’ union.
Various competition items like solo, duet, choir, folk song, fashion show, extempore speech, essay, poem, storytelling, etc were held.
