NSCN (R) denies recruiting drug addicts

NSCN –Reformation has strongly refuted the allegation that it was recruiting drug addicts and denied having links with any individuals involved “whatsoever with Wingsan Agan and Damwang Bangsia”.
In a press note, secretary MIP of NSCN (R), while welcoming the prompt action of the 1st Assam Rifles in nabbing anti-social elements involved in extortion and other anti-social activities in and around Tirap district particularly in district headquarter Khonsa and its periphery, said that the above mentioned persons were not related to the group.
It said many youths were involved in carrying out extortion in the name of various organizations including the NSCN (R) as it was an easy way of making money “unmindful of the consequences”.
To this, NSCN (R) urged the Assam Rifles to show their human side and carry out their civic action plans as a Good Samaritan towards the poor people of- Tirap, Changlang and Longding.
It also asked the Assam Rifle fill the gap created because of the lackadaisical attitude of the government and exploitation by outsiders taking advantage of their simplicity.
While pointing out that people of this region were the victims of insurgency and the worst affected people because of the long and porous boundary it shares with Myanmar, NSCN (R) said the porous boundary remained unguarded putting the life of the people at serious risk from various North East insurgent groups.
NSCN (R) also claimed that it has a major role to play and that people in the border districts were the witness.
Despite Khaplang, chairman of NSCN-K, decided to abrogate the ceasefire with the GoI and wanted to create havoc in entire North East, NSCN (R) said its leader- Y. Wangtin and P. Tikhak stood to their ground and continued the ceasefire with the government of India, in the interest of peace and development.
“Otherwise, people living in the border districts would have been affected the worst”, said NSCN (R).
It therefore, reminded the Naga people in these three districts that NSCN (R) was for peace and peaceful settlement of the Indo-Naga issue.
