CPO general session-cum-Chakhesang Day

Two-day 34th general session of Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO)-cum-2nd Chakhesang Day was held from Janaury 9-10 at Phusachodu village under the theme “Unity through justice.”
Main speaker Chakhesang Baptist Church Council executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo, stressed on the need to propagate unity and emphasis justice on larger scale. He said unity is an essential component to receive all rightful blessings from God and live in harmony with one another.
Referring to Bible, Rev. Tetseo said there should be no division among the community and the people must be perfectly united in mind and thought.
Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Chotisuh Sazo challenged the Chakhesang community to maintain the good traditional practices and customs as Chakhesangs are known for honesty, simplicity and hard working.
He also stated that the high level of democratic system at the grassroot level, respect to elders and sense of patriotism also form another asset to Chakhesang community.
Parliamentary secretary for planning & coordination, evaluation, monitoring cell and taxes Neiba Kronu called upon the Chakhesang community to focus on economy and human resource development.
He opined that Chakhesang Public Organization, Chakhesang Students’ Union and Chakhesang Youth Front must thoroughly discuss both the strength and weakness and frame a comprehensive strategy to take Chakhesang community forward on economy and human resource development.
Meanwhile, CPO search committee has announced the new team of CPO office bearers for the tenure 2016-18.
The new team is led by Kekhwengulo Lea as president with Ariyi Nienu- vice president, Mutsivoyi Kotso- general secretary, Dozhohii Tunyi- joint secretary, Wekhrope Marhu- press secretary, Vezoto (Jack) Dozo- finance secretary, John Lohe- treasurer and Neilo Khape and Besupra Swuro as representatives to Naga Hoho.
Earlier, the Chakhesang Day function was chaired by CPO outgoing president Sovenyi. Cultural exhibition and feast marked the day. Vote of thanks was proposed by Veziihii Keyho, treasurer CPO.
