Minister for national highway, mechanical and engineering, Nuklutoshi Longkumer has urged Naga youth to identify their talents and polish it to be successful in life.
He was speaking at 32nd session-cum-sports meet of Tobu Area Students Area on January 7 at Tobu headquarter.
Expressing concern that Nagaland has been infested with unemployment problem, Nuklutoshi said the same has become the biggest economic problem in the state.
He informed that 63,733 educated youth was registered as unemployed as of December 31, 2013 and assumed that by now it might be about 65, 000 and expressed concern that by 2020 the number could be over a lakh.  The minister also pointed out that Nagaland has the highest government employee ratio in the country 1:16 and that 64%of the state total budget were spent on salary alone.
Taking serious note of this issue, Nuklutosh appealed the students to start thinking seriously about the future and look for employment avenues in National and even at global level. He also urged the students to change their mindsets of depending on “backward reservations.”
Asserting that Nagas are gifted in games and sports, Nuklutosh lamented that “very few” Nagas sportspersons could play at the national level.
He then encouraged the youth to also hone their skills in games and sports and take it more seriously and professionally so as to represent the state at the higher level.
The programme was also graced by ADC Tobu Zubenthung Kithan as the guest of honour.
