Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division (PFPSD) has expressed dismay at decision of the state cabinet, which disallowed YAA golden jubilee at Shamator town citing likelihood of law and order problem.
In a press release, PFPSD president S. Kiusumew said the land for establishment of administrative headquarters for Yimchungrü tribe was parted by four villages including Shamator village.
It maintained that there was no occasion of dispute over Shamator town among donor villages. However, it alleged that competent authority of the state had “blindly and maliciously” declared Shamator town a disputed land.
Stating that law and order problem was not the issue, PFPSD said it was only a secondary importance because the primary and priority was establishment of rights and facts.
It said once the government took the pain with honest intention and established the rights and facts the law and order problem would automatically die itself.
Alleging that government decision was “purely made on the line of inter-tribal feuds” and was highly questionable, PFPSD said it was because the matter on the contrary was “a mere kitchen problem” between Yimchungrüs and Yimchungrüs and no other tribes were involved.
Further, the forum maintained that the “volatile astray” of state cabinet in culminating into a hasty and harsh decision simply because of a complaint letter lodged by “handful of the Yimchungrüs” for disallowing YAA golden jubilee at Shamator Town was unbecoming of the stature the Nagaland Legislative Assembly held.
Asserting that Yimchungrüs were not forcing upon anybody’s land and property but decided to host the celebration programme on its own soil and property, PFPSD said “if Tikhir sub-dialect is another tribe of Nagaland and not the Yimchungrüs the matter would have been different.”
However, it alleged that apparent motive of the cabinet to “fragment the Yimchungrüs by inflicting as many wounds as possible is the highest form of humiliation.”
Therefore, the forum has urged the government to fulfil three-point charter of demands submitted before January 14, 2016. In the event of failure, PFPSD cautioned that they would be compelled to resort to any form of action directed by YAA and the state government would be held responsible.
YUD: Yimchungru union Dimapur (YUD) has condemned what it described as “infamous” decision of the state government of December 30, 2015 disallowing YAA golden jubilee at Shamator, which was scheduled for January 7-10, 2016 but was later deferred to January 14-17, 2016 by YTC and YAA on the request of the state government.
In a press release, YUD president S. Keoshu and YUD executive chairman S. Kamba said the December 30, 2015 cabinet decision “shocked” all the Yimchungru across Nagaland and beyond. YUD said “unjustified decision” of the government was based on just hearsay and without proper verification and thorough study of Yimchungru history.
The union stated that the state government would have been saved from embarrassment if the two elected representatives of Yimchungru Naga were consulted. YUD added that if government had any doubt it should have most importantly approached parent organisation YTC.
Pointing out that YAA jubilee programme was announced year ahead and the venue was made known three months prior to the date, the union said the state government disallowing jubilee programme just three days before the jubilee came as a “rude shock.”
It said the “unjustified action” has hurt the pride of Yimchungru Naga and “shaken the very core of trust to the present government.”
In order to maintain peace and tranquillity in the Yimchungru jurisdiction and to restore the trust of Yimchungru community on the state government and general readers across Nagaland, YUD said the government should honour the three-point charter demands of YTC and YAA.
Further, the union urged the respective village unions to be patience and at the same time remain vigilant of the Shamator development in order to maintain unity and peace among general public.
