NGBF appeals to Yimchungers, Tikhirs

Expressing concern over differences between the Yimchungers and Tikhirs over the issue of holding the golden jubilee of Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) at Shamator, the Nagaland GB Federation has however appreciated the maturity shown by both Yimchungru Tribal council (YTC) and YAA. In a press release, NGBF president Shaleem Konyak, general secretary Shikuto Zalipu and I&P secretary Akhu Naga also lauded the collective decision to defer the proposed celebration, temporarily withdrawal of indefinite strike as requested by the state cabinets. NGBF opined that both Yimchunger and Tikhir communities should sort out the differences based on traditionally bonded relationship.  Reminding that Nagas were traditionally and customarily interwoven, which was upheld by forefathers since time immemorial, NGBF stated that considering those rich legacies both the brothers should therefore settle the differences with the help of genuine effort being rendered by the state government. Further, NGBF appealed to the GBs of both communities to cooperate with the administration and play a vital role in bringing peace and settle the matter amicably. It also reminded the concerned communities to refrain from any actions that could “create displeasure and condemnations.”
