In a major breakthrough, two juveniles have been arrested by Peren police on January 4 in connection with the alleged murder of a 67-year old woman identified as Akiam at her home in Jalukie, under Peren district on January 1, 2016.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Peren, the police apprehended the prime accused, a 14-year old and his accomplice, also a juvenile of 13 years, from Jalukie town.
Based on circumstantial evidences and statements of witnesses, SP Peren said that the two accused juveniles were apprehended for questioning and in the course of investigation the prime accused confessed to the crime.
The weapon of offence was recovered and seized from the place of occurrence, said the police. The motive of the murder was suspected to be robbery. SP said both the accused have been forwarded to the Juvenile Justice Board and further investigation was in progress.
On January 4, protestors under the aegis of JTCU, JTGBU, JTWWU, JTYO, JTTU and JSU carried out a silent procession in Jalukie and later submitted a memorandum to SDO (C).
