All Sumi Students Union (SKK) in a letter has sought the intervention of chief secretary on the “administrative negligence” and “inefficiency” of the incumbent deputy commissioner (DC), Kiphire in “mishandling” sensitive issue.
In the letter, SKK president Holuvi Chophy and vice president, Khuketo Yepthomi alleged that, Sitimi Area Sangtam Students’ Union was “unofficially” using the nomenclature “SINGTI” instead of its official nomenclature “SITIMI”, officially recognized by the Government of Nagaland.
SKK, said the incumbent DC Kiphire during a joint meeting convened on December 22 and after deliberation, had made it clear to both the parties to use the official name, i.e. “SITIMI” for all official matters.
In the same office memorandum, DC Kiphire had also ordered that, “non adherence to the above directives will be considered unlawful”, SKK added.
However, the signatories alleged that when the Sitimi Area Sangtam Students’ Union (SASSU) lodged an FIR against Kiphire-Tuensang District Sumi Students Union (KTDSSU) for removing the banner, the case was immediately registered and officials of KTDSSU were immediately arrested and booked.
But, when All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) lodged counter FIR against SASSU for directly violating the DC’s office memorandum by using the unofficial nomenclature “SINGTI”, the case was not registered “deliberately” for three days and it was only after SKK officials visit and appealed to the concerned authorities at Kiphire, the FIR was registered but no follow up action initiated till now.
Since putting up of banners in and around Kiphire town using the unofficial nomenclature “SINGTI” was a direct violation of the DC’s office order and has the potential of creating communal tension, the SKK official delegation through a memorandum appealed to DC to remove the banners as per his office order.
However, the Deputy Commissioner turned deaf ear to their “genuine demand”, SKK added.
