Lotha Lower Range Public Organization (LLRPO), which organised a 12-hour total bandh on January 4, 2016 in protest against the rape of a nine-year-old girl at Bhandari, has submitted four-point charter of demands to the state Nagaland government for fulfilment within 30 days.
In a press release, the LLRPO acting president Chenirao Jami and general secretary R Kemerio Yanthan said the public meeting that was held following the bandh resolved that the perpetrator involved in the heinous act be awarded rigorous punishment according to the quantum of crime committed and the victim be compensated as per provision of the scheme.
They said it was also resolved that Bhandari sub-divisional HQ, which functions under ADC, be accorded full-fledged status by virtue of the oldest and largest sub-division in Nagaland.
The meeting further resolved that sub-divisional planning board be accorded to the sub-division by keeping in letter and principle Nagaland government notification of 1982, declaring Bhandari sub-division as the most economically and educationally backward region of Nagaland.
They also demanded that EAC headquarters and police out post with a company of armed personnel be established at Yanmhon area where rape incident occurred.
Affirming to stand committed with the demands in the lager interest and service of the people, LLRPO cautioned that in the event of non-fulfilment within the stipulated time it would initiate own course of action for which Nagaland government shall be held responsible.
