Nokzenketba passes away

Former Nagaland minister Nokzenketba passed away in Jorhat (Assam) Tuesday morning. He was 67 and leaves behind his wife and three daughters.
A DIPR report said the former minister, who had undergone cardiac surgery at NEIGRIMS Shillong left Mokokchung Tuesday morning accompanied by his wife and others for check up. However, on the way he had to be admitted to a private clinic in Jorhat due to rapid deterioration of his breathing. He was immediately shifted to ICU, where he breathed his last at around 9 a.m. 
Born on September 19, 1948 in Chungtia village, Nokzenketba was first elected from 28 Koridang assembly constituency to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) as an Independent candidate in 1982. He then joined Congress party and was inducted as minister of state in the Congress ministry. In 1987, late Nokzenketba was re-elected from the same constituency on Congress party ticket and appointed as deputy chairman, state planning board. In 1989, he was elected from the same constituency and appointed as minister for agriculture under the Vamuzo government. Funeral service would be held in late Nokzen’s residence in Mokokchung, Wednesday.
