YAA golden jubilee celebration imbroglio

YAA indefinite bandh from Jan 5
Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) has called for an indefinite bandh in the entire Yimchungrü jurisdiction including NH-202 with effect from January 5, 6 a.m.
In a joint press release, YAA president Akuiba TS and Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) president Z. Keozih said they were compelled to call the bandh since the state government had failed to fulfill the 24-hr ultimatum– to revoke the order disallowing holding of YAA golden jubilee at Shamator Hq. The ultimatum was submitted to the chief minister on January 3. YTC and YAA cautioned that in the event of any eventualities, the government would be held responsible.
Paramilitary forces, police, administration, medical and media personnel have been exempted from the purview of the indefinite bandh.
Govt appeals to YAA, YTC
State government has appealed to Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) and Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) not to resort to any course of action which may result in the breach of public peace and tranquility. According to the DIPR report, the appeal has been made as a result of the 24-hour ultimatum by YTC and YAA addressed to the state chief minister in connection with the YAA Golden Jubilee at Shamator Headquarter from January 7 to 10, 2016.
Meanwhile, state government has sincerely solicited kind co-operation on the matter in the interest of maintaining the public peace and tranquility.
TTC welcomes cabinet decision
Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC), the apex public organization of Tikhir tribe has welcomed the state cabinet’s decision disallowing the proposed YAA golden jubilee at Shamator Hq.
TTC vice president, S. Pongsuthong Tikhir and general secretary, W. Tothong Philip Tikhir while appreciating the “wisdom” of the state government in recognizing the “undeniable rights” of the landowners, has sought immediate preventive measures from deputy commissioner Tuensang, additional deputy commissioner Shamator and state government in enforcing the decision of the state cabinet on ground at Shamator Hq.  Also, TTC said Shamator village (Tikhir Naga) was donated land to state government for establishment of an administrative Hq at Shamator in 1954 and “not to Yimchunger tribe and their frontal organizations to substitute Shamator as their tribal Hq and hold their tribal gatherings at Shamator town”.
TTC therefore, said it was ready to defend its land and honor “tooth and nail” and for which it should not be held accountable on any law and order situation arise at Shamator Hq in the event of state government failure to enforce the cabinet decision.
Earlier, the state cabinet during its emergency meeting held on December 30, 2015 at the residential office of the chief minister in Dimapur stated that government did not discourage the celebration of the proposed YAA golden jubilee celebration but in view of the volatile situation and in the public interest it had to disallow till the matter was amicably settled. The cabinet had also decided to set up committees to recommend measures to bring a permanent solution to such problems in various pockets of the state.
