Nagaland Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya extended warmest greeting to “all brothers and sisters” of Nagaland on the occasion of New Year 2016.
In his New Year greetings to the people of the state, Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya said 2016 would be “a challenging and crucial year for Nagaland” a year where “permanent peace is at our doorstep”.
Acharya called upon civil society and underground factions to unite for a “graceful dialogue” as enshrined in the framework peace agreement signed between the government of India under prime minister Narendra Modi and the NSCN (I-M) on August 3,2015.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the will to “solve our problems and who cares for the North East in general and Nagaland in particular’.
He reminded that solution was an “opportunity, which cannot be missed” and that it would be suicidal if “we fail to achieve the goal of unity and peace towards achieving permanent peace”.
Governor P.B. Acharya renewed his plea to “make golden Nagaland” as it had all the potentialities when dependence on Delhi for development has become a thing of the past.
He urged for unity in empowering of women in all spheres, so that men alongside women in Nagaland could work on equal footing to bring development in true sense.
Acharya said it was also desirable that equal status was accorded to women in all spheres, especially in political representation.
He also rooted for a dialogue with industries, commerce and trade system and our University degrees so as to have additional skills, which was mandatory by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Acharya asserted that Nagaland has the required skilled man power to strengthen society such as empowered doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, teachers, entrepreneurs, social workers, NGOs apart from excellent artists, performers, weavers, craftsmen etc.
The Governor said many of the state’s empowered youths have gone outside Nagaland and have returned to take care of society in order to strengthen it for a healthy, developed and prosperous Nagaland.
“We are fortunate to have plenty of organic food in Nagaland and our kisans are working hard to fill our granaries” he said and called on all to pray that the new year would provide farmers remunerative price for their produce and usher prosperity.
The Governor said Nagaland can be equal to any other state in the mainland and was second to none.
He further urged all to march together to shoulder responsibility in making India strong and prosperous.
