VK Area Union Zunheboto (VKAUZ) celebrates its 29th annual New Year celebration at the residence of Akavi Assumi Residence, Old Town Zunheboto on January 1.
The celebration cum grand feast was attended by VKAUZ members from 11 colonies in Zunheboto town.
During the programme, VKAUZ and VKRSUZ read out their 2015 yearly annual endeavours while senior citizen Hokheto Assumi extended New Year’s greetings and exhorted the gathering.
Earlier, the program was chaired by VKAUZ president Niheto Shohe while general secretary Bokato Assumi recorded the proceedings. VKAUZ president Niheto Shohe also gave a brief synopsis and history of the union.
The programme began with scripture reading and invocation by Hutoli Zhimo. Special Sumi “lejole” was presented by Kiyeto Awomi Trio, Project Colony Zunheboto. A tribute was paid to all the deceased by observing a moment of silence.
The programme concluded with New Year blessings and prayer by Ilito Achumi followed by grand community New Year feast.
The next tenure 2016-17 will be headed by Niheto Shohe, Apeto Achumi, Bokato Assumi, Kiyelho Assumi as the president, vice president, general secretary and joint secretary respectively. (Correspondent)
St. Francis Xavier’s Church Kidima: St. Francis Xavier’s Church Kidima celebrated New Year-cum-Mary Solemnity Mother of God with director of Eden Garden, Khuzama Rev. Fr.Raymond D’ Souza SJ as the main celebrant at Church premises.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. D’ Souza said that Holy mother of God was first called by Elizabeth mother of John Baptist.
He also said blessings of strength, necessity and peace was very important in life. Father said.
Rev. D’ Souza called upon the gathering to seek help and guide of mother Mary. Special prayer was also offered for the new Church building construction.
