Nerhema Students’ Union (NSU) golden jubilee celebration got underway with ‘Golden Nite’ under the theme “Transcendence” on December 29 at conference hall, Tekhuzie, Nerhema village.
On the occasion, guest of honour, wildlife warden department of Forest K. Caroline (IFS) said knowledge to acquire job could be earned from schools, colleges and universities but knowledge on how to live life needs to be acquired from the society.
Caroline said today students were too engaged in competition of scoring marks. However education was incomplete without knowledge on ways of life.
She also urged NSU to guide the younger generation with conviction and clarity lest they were lost in life after their academic life was over.
Stressing on the environmental issues, she said the recent Paris Summit on climate has brought ecology to the forefront and therefore global message needs to be driven down right to grass-root level at villages.
Caroline said ecological crisis was a human creation as it was a result of men stepping beyond the limit in devastating nature and added that nature has a right and man cannot go about destroying God’s creation. She advised that student bodies being responsible grass root organizations should take pro-active role in conserving the ecological balance.
Further, she appealed NSU and village to co-operate with forest department in enforcing the Wildlife Protection Act and also to strictly follow the government directive in ban hunting and burning forest. Highlights of the programme included special songs by üsou instrumental, Thejaneinuo Kiewhuo, Thepfulhou Theünuo, Mhalelie Ziephrü, Kezevinuo Chadi, Kesosieü üsou and Peteneizo Pienyü.
