Yimchungru Union Dimapur (YUD) and Chetheba Town Students’ Union (CTSU) held its 36th general session and 27th general session on December 29 and December 30 in two separate programmes at its union treasury and at town hall, Chetheba town respectively.
Yimchungru Union Dimapur session was chaired by YUD general secretary Z. Akiu invocation prayer was pronounced by YBCD, women department Shojila, welcome address was delivered by YUD treasury Nathanial, cultural song was presented by Yanthrongba and group.
The programme was exhorted by superintendent of Taxes Mon, Toshi, assistant general manager, Tuensang Andrew Phunungkiu and AEO, Dimapur Issac Litsase.
Later vote of thanks was delivered by YUD president S. Keoshu, and benediction by was pronounced by YBCD pastor, Asangba.
CTSU: Speaking at Chetheba Town Students’ Union, deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima Rovilato Mor (IAS) encouraged the gathering to “Live by education and knowledge”. He also deliberated that Chokri area had lots of talent, potentiality and dedication and that the area was known as sharp shooter since it had always hit the target wherever it shoots.
Speaking on education, DC embarked that “education involves intellectuality but intellectuality is not sufficient”. He improvised that it requires good development of habits, behavior and characters in order to become a true educator and further urged upon the students the need to live by education in their future endeavour.
He also stressed on the importance of culture which play an important role in a student’s life, saying that cultural identity, values and custom should not be forgotten but should learn to cultivate the habits based on cultural values in order to become a respectable men and women in the course of acquiring knowledge.
He challenged the students to have a clear determination and put the best effort to proving that they hailed from Chokri area’’.
DC also cautioned the gatherings about the advantages and disadvantages of electronic gadgets.
