Tohanba: Parliamentary secretary for municipal affairs and economics & statistics R. Tohanba has mourned the sudden demise of late Shokum Yimchunger, Retd assistant commandant of 3rd NAP Tuensang who passed away on December 28 after prolonged illness at Dimapur.
Tohanba in a condolence message stated that late Shokum was recipient of governor medal in 1981 and also awarded gold medal in 1975 from president of India.
He described the deceased as a statesman and practical person with charming personality throughout his life adding that in his death, Yimchunger in particular, ENPO and Nagas have lost its leader and the vacuum created would be difficult to fill. He also conveyed deepest condolences and profound sorrow to the bereaved family members and pray that the departed soul rest in peace.
YUK: YimchungrĂĽ Union Kohima (YUK) has expressed shock at the sudden demise of Retd. DSP and assistant to chairman Ceasefire Monitoring Group late Shokum YimchungrĂĽ on December 28.
The union described late Shokum as a man of dignity and integrity who brought laurels to YimchungrĂĽ community and state as a whole and added that he had rendered his best time for the cause of the Naga peace and unity with different capacities. YUK lamented that his demise has caused a great loss to YimchungrĂĽs in particular and Nagas in general. It also extended deepest condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty God to grant solace and the departed soul to rest in peace.
YUK also conveyed condolence to the bereaved family of late Chiluchi YimchungrĂĽ mother of Throngkila Tohanba who expired on December 30 at Dimapur. The union prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
