East Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (EDSSU) celebrated its 23rd annual session, Wednesday at Sumi Baptist Church, Purana Bazaar with Khekiye K. Sema IAS (retd) and deputy chief electoral officer Khekugha Sema as chief guest and guest of honour for the inaugural and closing function respectively.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Khekiye encouraged the students to stand for what is right for which he said they should be able to differentiate between right and wrong.
Lamenting the silence of people against all wrong doings taking place in Naga society, Khekiye urged the students to be courageous to stand against the wrong things.
Urging the students to be the change they want to see, he said “the real meaning of leaders tomorrow is what you do today first. So make up your mind today about who you want to be tomorrow.”
Deliberating on being an honest person, Khekiye said the moment one have the principle of honesty as a way of life, the life ahead could never go wrong.
The gathering was also exhorted by Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) president Atokiho Sumi. The programme was chaired by Alino Sumi, opening act was performed by Mt. View students, invocation by senior Pastor NCRC Rev. Dr. Shiwoto Assumi, welcome address by EDSSU president Kanato S Awomi, special songs by students and benediction by associate youth leader SBCPB M. Twinkle Kiba.
The closing programme was graced by guest of honour Khekugha Sema, chaired by Vikali Zhimomi, invocation by assistant pastor SCBPB Khetoi Shikhu, exhortation by EDSSU advisor Shikuto Achumi, special songs by Alike Achumi and Messy Apartment band, vote of thanks by EDSSU vice president Bonoka Yeptho and benediction by youth leader SBCPB Mughai Achumi.
