New Parish St. Maria Goretti inaugurated

New Parish of St. Maria Goretti at Sechu-Zubza was inaugurated on Sunday on the feast of St. John Bosco by Bishop of Kohima, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil.
Parish priest, Khonoma, Rev. Fr. Jacob Charalel while welcoming the gathering said that it had been a long cherished desire and dream of the catholic community of Sechü-Zubza to have their church raised to the status of a parish. He also thanked the Salesian society and people of God for the collaboration extended and wished God’s blessing upon them.
The Bishop in his interaction thanked the Salesians congregation and said that St. John Bosco was truly remarkable saint, Christian educator and lover of youth.
He illustrated how God calls each and every Christian to be a prophet like Jeremiah and when God calls he also equips the person. He said that God’s power is always available to transform even the most unlikely people and that His power may come to us through unlikely instruments.
After the homily Fr. Samuel Elow was officially installed by observing the rites of public reading of the appointment, hymn to the Holy Spirit, profession of faith by Fr. Samuel, handing over the key of the church and the tabernacle, kissing the four corners of the altar, sitting at the confessional, ringing the bell and opening of the Bible on the lectern. 
Salesian provincial, Rev. Fr. Nestor thanked the bishop, the parish priest of the mother parish Fr. Jacob and his predecessors, the Salesian community and people of Zubza for their steadfastness in faith and assured that the new parish shall be taken care with utmost commitment following the diocesan directives and the salesian educational pastoral program.
 Fr. Samuel Elow, the new parish priest thanked Bishop, provincial, fathers, sisters, DC, pastors, and all the invited guests from various places, even as far as Imphal for their presence and support.
Sechu-Zubza Catholic Youth Association, Salesian novices, and aspirants presented the special songs. Mhiesinguto Mark and Kveviuchutuo Victor anchored the programme while Michael spoke on behalf of Western Angami Catholic Union. Vote of thanks was given by Medolepra Lucas which was followed by a community meal.
