‘All Nagaland Catechists Convention’ held

Four-day “All Nagaland Catechists Convention 2016” was held at Don Bosco Institute for Development and Leadership (DBIDL) under the theme “Blessed are the Merciful” (Mt 5: 7).
The programme started on January 27 with lamp lighting by Rev. Fr P. J. Thomas, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Parish, Dimapur, Rev. Fr Jaison Thomas, the director of Pastoral Center, Kohima Diocese and three Touring Catechists. 
Fr P. J. Thomas exhorted the gathering saying “we need to know the teaching of the Church, the tradition of the Church along with all our Catholic practices as we go to the people at grass root level to strengthen our faith and the faith of the people”. 
Fr Chacko, the rector of the Good Shepherd Seminary, Dimapur concelebrated the Eucharistic Celebration on January 28 and enlightened the gathering on “Being light of the World”.  
Bishop of Kohima  Rt  Rev. James Thoppil celebrated the concluding mass and encouraged the Catechists. He said “you are playing a vital role as you proclaim and stand for the truth.”
Rev. Fr. Sajan, Chancellor of the Diocese, Dr. Lhovi Bleho, Dr Modesta Civil Hospital, Dimapur, Rev Fr Jaison Thomas, Director Pastoral Center, Dimapur, Rev Fr. Sajan, Parish Priest Chumukedima , Fr O. C. Abraham, Director St Joseph Children’s Home, Burma Camp, Fr Jacob Charlel, Parish Priest Khonoma, Fr Mathew Keemattam, Parish Priest Chiepobouzo, Lt Regina, St Joseph’s College, Jakhama,  Mrs. J. Tita Kikon Achumi, President Sumi Catholic Women, Mrs Kaholi Swu Lily, Advisor Sumi Catholic Toiutimi and Vise President of Nagaland Catholic Women Association were the resource persons on various topics, who enlightened, enthused and energized 98 catechists. 
Sr. Rose Tsiitso MHMSC conducted the adoration to the blessed Sacrament and Sr. Rosin Noronha UFC led the meditation as they invited the Catechists to pray for peace in Nagaland by being more merciful, compassionate and generous in day today lives and bring about change in the society.
