As part of its nationwide expansion plan, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has finally entered Nagaland following the launch of its youth wing here on Saturday. Announcing the launch at Hotel Saramati here, AAP national executive member and NE observer Habung Payeng disclosed that the party was also planning to launch AAP student and women wings in the state soon.
Habung Payeng, former state information commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh, said the party’s aim was to bring change in the system that was “free from corruption” in Nagaland and across the country. Habung, who contested in 2014 Lok Sabah election from Arunachal West as AAP candidate, said people of Nagaland were fed up with the present system and government, Habung said AAP has therefore stepped in with the aim of freeing the state from corruption starting from the grassroots level.
Youth wing preparatory committee members of the state include– Imti Jamir as president, Peto Swu (i/c Kohima and Zunheboto) and Imlinochet (spokesperson and i/c Mokokchung) as vice president along with five general secretaries and two joint secretaries. AAP Nagaland youth wing district committees have also been set up in all the 11 districts with a president and vice president.
