Awareness on joint liability groups

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural development (NABARD) conducted awareness programme on Joint Liability Groups (JLPs) in Phenwhenyu village, Tseminyu block for members of Phenwhenyu Farmers’ Club (PFC) on January 25.
In a press release, assistant general manager, NABARD, Bendang Aier said that
PFC has decided to promote activity based JLGs from amongst their members, since it would facilitate them to take up Income Generating Activities (IGAs) by availing loan from financial institutions.
PFC and JLGs would be receiving suitable support from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kohima, Development Wing of CRBC (Council of Rengma Baptist Churches), banks and NABARD, said Aier.
The meeting was chaired by VDB secretary, Joshua Chen and attended by AGM, NABARD, Longma Yanger Pongen, KVK Kohima, Bendang Aier, development secretary, Arhunlo Semp and finance secretary CRBC, Zunpha, Hyulonyu Kesen. Senior pastor Gwanino and Anosha Tep pronounced the invocation and vote of thanks respectively.  As on December 31, 2015, a total of twenty three (23) JLGs have already received credit amounting to Rs. 32.50 lakh from banks under Kohima district for undertaking various IGAs, Aier stated.
