With regard to the stand-off between Southern Angami People’s Organization (SAPO) and Mao council over Kezoltsa/Kozüri issue, the Tenyimi People’s Organization (TPO) has officially constituted a board of arbitrators and endorsed the members to settle the matter within six months with effect from January 27.
The board was set up during its meeting held at Hotel Millennium Kohima attended by all the ten Tenyimi tribal leaders on January 26. The board consisted of two persons each from 10 constituents units (tribe) of Tenyimi.
According to the sources, the board of arbitrators has been given the full authority to settle the matter at the earliest.
The mode of settlement of the issue would be purely on Tenyimi customary law and practices. Sources stated that it was also resolved at the meeting that if any problem created by any party/organization on this particular issue before the matter was settled, the responsible group/tribe would be penalized with a sum of Rs. 5 lakh.
It may be mentioned that various organizations including churches, student unions, tribal Hohos, NGOs, state government, political parties and individuals have fervently appealed to both the parties to settle the matter amicably.
