Naga woman coffered doctorate on marine sciences

A Naga woman, Vikesano Rosaline Punyü has been conferred doctorate of philosophy in marine sciences for her research and thesis titled “Palaeoproductivity reconstruction for the northern India Ocean utilizing lipid biomarkers”.
Dr. Vikesano daughter of Rüükholie hailing from Khonoma village under Kohima district did her research work at council of Scientific and Industrial Research Laboratory – the National Institute Of Oceanography of Goa University under the guidance of Dr. V.K. Banakar Chief Scientist National Institute of Oceanography.
Her dissertation is probably the first thesis in India on palaeoclimate studies based on organic proxies as study of such subject new in India. 
The study focused the applications of organic geochemical proxies in oceanic palaeoproductivity reconstruction during the last 33,000 years. Her study has been conducted from deep sea sediment cores collected at a water depth ranging from 2000m to over 3000m m below the sea level.
Dr. Vikesano cleared her doctorate in April 2015 at the age of 31; she passed high school from Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima and graduated from Kohima Science College and obtained M.Sc. from University of Mysore.
