One GPRN/NSCN functionary was apprehended by 37 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 6 Sector Assam Rifles during operation, said AR source in a statement. AR claimed that the cadre identified as ‘self style second lieutenant’, Isak Khiamniungan with Army No-19369 was apprehended on January 19 at 7th mile, Chumukedima. One .22 rifle with magazine (fabricated akin to AK rifles) and one mobile phone (Nokia) were recovered from his possession. AR also claimed that the apprehended cadre had brought the recovered weapon to Chumukedima for sale to a potential customer. He was later handed over to Diphupar police station on January 20.
