Poor drainage system in Dimapur worrisome: Jacob

Parliamentary secretary for irrigation & flood control (I&FC) Jacob Zhimomi, who is also the chairman of Dimapur district planning and development board (DPDB), has expressed serious concern over poor drainage system in Dimapur city.
Addressing the first DPDB monthly meeting for the year 2016 in the conference hall of DC Dimapur on Friday, Jacob said the hardly existing drainage system in Dimapur was quite worrisome in an ever expanding city.
Stating that civic amenities were either grounded or incapable of delivery, he said poor drainage system spanning across the length and breadth of Dimapur, particularly NL Road and New Market areas, has led to massive inundation causing much annoyance and disgust to the public.
With regard to this, parliamentary secretary and DPDB chairman appealed to the DMC to maintain the drainage system and not to allot government/public areas to street vendors. He added that it led to the already congested traffic and increase of filth in town.
Meanwhile, apologizing for the delayed message, Jacob took the opportunity to congratulate Editor Nagaland Post and staff on competing of 25 years on December 3, 2015. He was of the view that Nagaland Post has been publishing “standard and unbiased” news.
At the meeting, DPDB chairman also requested the board members to be regular in the meeting.
Proposal for opening of St. Joseph Catholic University at Ikishe village, Dimapur was agreed by the board and further it was decided that the matter would be refereed to appropriate higher authorities for consideration. On the agenda for registration of societies, the house after deliberation recommended the following societies Anglers Association Nagaland (AAN), Spring Water Enterprises and Blooming Dale society.
The house also decided to withhold registration of societies for the next six months.
Up-gradation of GPS to Government Middle School, Hovukhu Village, Nuiland sub-division, up-gradation Class-8 and recognition of Touch the Hope School, Shokhuvi were also recommended.
The house also recommended opening of Pinks & Blues Kids School at ‘E’ Khel, Diphupar, opening of Sutsah Academy at Thilixu block-II Dimapur.
Department of excise and taxes was directed to give detail presentation on departmental activities in the next meeting.
