DAN political stand confusing: NPCC

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) flayed the present DAN government for taking “ a different and confusing stand” on the Naga political issue by offering to resign, if settlement was reached, but on the other hand, NPF leaders expressed optimism that T.R. Zeliang would continue as chief minister beyond 2018 and wondered where the Naga issue was headed for.
NPCC media cell said NPCC working president Ayangba Aonok stated this, while highlighting “the interests of successive governments for Naga political settlement right since inception of statehood”.
Media cell said Aonok pointed out that for three successive terms, NPF-led DAN indulged in promising a settlement “within three months” and held road shows in all districts that finally ended in present bad roads, unpaid scholarships and salaries and financial deficit “ in three successive state budgets”.
It said Aonok also highlighted the secuar, social and democratic principles of the Congress as against the “communal, Hindu and Dictatorial outlook of the BJP-RSS”.
NPCC general secretary and former MLA Medokul Sophie highlighted NPCC road map and reiterated that its contact tour was not as election campaign but mass contact with people to solicit suggestions for working together towards taking Naga people forward for a vision roadmap.
Sophie recalled that the NNO made a resolution for Naga political settlement at Pfütsero in 1972 and therefore Chakhesang people should “lead the people in bringing the solution.”
He said the present DAN government has been paralysed due to lack of a future vision and works programme and asked legislators not to use LADF and MGNREGA funds for garnering votes but for developmental activities for public.
DCC Phek president Mikha Kenye, who chaired the mass contact tour meetings in Pfütsero and Chizami challenged people to “come forward” and raise their demands. Kenye also appreciated people of Chizami range for initiating the recent bandh as means to redress problem of electric supply.
NPCC vice president Vetetso Lasuh also called upon people to embrace NPCC’s roadmap that represented the stand of Naga by encompassing people’s dreams, irrespective of political affiliation.
