Workshop on ‘drama in education’

Five-day workshop on the topic “drama in education” was organized by Unity College of Teacher Education from January 12-16 for the two year B. Ed trainees with Temjenzungba as the resource person.
Speaking during the workshop, resource person Temjenzungba with his degree from “National school of Drama, New Delhi” enthralled the trainees with lively lecture sessions and application activities by recreating live to the life syllabus and learning by doing.
The objectives of the workshop were to understand the application of drama as a medium of teaching, elucidate different expression and develop pedagogy of teaching through different techniques of theater; to engage in various integrative activities for personal development and growth using drama in education; sharing a imaginative world and drama as rehearsing for the reality and simplifying the conventional notion of education through simple moments and gestures. The College said the workshop proved to be a big boon to all the trainees and faculty as well adding that such interactive exchanges act as a catalyst in bringing out innate qualities and polishing of skills requisite of a teacher.
