Assam Rifles conduct various activities across Nagaland

As part of their civic action programme, Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) continued to carry out various activities in different places across the state.   
Assam Rifles (AR) Phek battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a free medical camp on May 26, at Wuzu Village, Phek district.
The aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical examination and treatment to the local populace of Wuzu, Phor and New Phor village.
The team under the regimental medical officer examined 86 people — 18 Male, 33 Female and 35 children. Free medicine was also provided to the ailing patients. Mosquito nets were distributed to old people and families with infants, keeping in mind the epidemic diseases caused by mosquitoes during the rainy season. 
Apart from the medical assistance, basic knowledge on epidemic diseases including awareness on the widely spreading Nipha Virus was also imparted to the locals.
Wokha Bn: Wokha Battalion of Assam Rifles on May 25 organised an interaction programme with GBs of Tseminyu region at Tseminyu. A press release from Assam Rifles stated that the interaction focused on the HIV & AIDS and drugs free Nagaland campaign. Issues and local concerns about health, sanitation, employment and skill development were also discussed during the meeting, stated the release.
Dimapur Bn: Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on HIV & AIDS on May 25 at Shozukho village, Dimapur.
A press release issued by the Assam Rifles stated that the aim of the awareness lecture was to create public awareness about the HIV & AIDS epidemic and educate the youth about preventive measures.
Chieswema battalion: Chieswema battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted a lecture on opportunities to join the Indian Army at Government High School, Kikruma under Pfutsero sub-division on May 24. 
According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the lecture was organized to create awareness among students about the Indian Army and the eligibility criteria to join the force. Students were informed about various types of entry schemes, pay and emoluments, training and numerous career options available in the security forces.
The lecture provided an opportunity to the students to see and feel the forces way of life from close quarters. Besides giving the students exposure to the Indian Army, it also encouraged students to take up this challenging and adventurous career. 
The lecture was attended by total of 40 students from Classes VIII, IX and X along with the principal and teaching staff.
Kiphire battalion: Kiphire battalion of Assam Rifles organised a drawing competition under the theme “HIV and AIDS free Nagaland”  at Trinity High School, Kiphire on May 24. 
According to PRO AR HQ IGAR (N), the aim of the drawing competion was to create awareness about the menace of HIV/AIDS. Captain S. Haokip also addressed the students and staff before the event. 
A total of 24 students took part in the competition. The event concluded with prize distribution for the best three drawings by the students and an informal interaction.
AR organises drawing competition 
Chieswema battalion: Chieswema battalion organised a drawing competition under the theme “Say No to Drugs” at Government High School Kikruma, Pfutsero town on May 24. 
According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the aim of the competition was to inculcate a competitive spirit, bring out the hidden talents of the students and to spread awareness on the ill effects of the drugs menace on individuals and society. 14 students from class-IX and X participated in the competition and made imaginative drawings. Prizes were awarded based on the concept and ideas depicted by the students through their drawings. 
Shamator battalion: Shamator battalion conducted a women empowerment workshop, in collaboration with Shekinah Christian Foundation, and distributed 12 solar lamps to the women folk of Tshotokur village May 23.
According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the project was aimed at augmenting the basic requirement of lighting at Tshotokur village, which faces frequent power cuts during nights due to inclement weather. Solar lamps were distributed to the local women on the culmination of the workshop which commenced on May 18 at Shamatore. The event was attended by local women and village council members.
